Terrible Accident and Death

We are pained to announce that Cornwall township lost one of its best citizens last week by a sudden and terrible accident. Mr. Christian Bomberger was engaged in quarrying stone on his farm. In endeavoring to set off a blast, the fuse exploded, and Mr. B. had gone forward to examine the charge, when, as he was leaning forward peering into the hose to learn its condition the charge was blown out into his face. His eyes were knocked out, and nose, cheek and jaw bones broken, in short the whole face was dreadfully mutilated. He lingered in an insensible condition until Saturday when he died.

Mr. B. was highly regarded by all who knew him. He was an intelligent, upright, and conscientious citizen. Being thus suddenly carried off in the prime of life, his loss will be severely felt. He leaves a family consisting of wife and eight children to mourn a kind husband and father.
