(DR.) ELEASER [Hutchins] (John5, Joseph4, John3, William2), baptized 14 July 1765, Ipswich, Mass. as son of Martha (107); died 10 Feb. 1833, Jericho, Vt.; married (no date given) in Jericho Betsey Hollenbeck, said to be from Litchfield, Conn. (108), from a family that originally settled in New York from Holland and later spread into Connecticut and Vermont. Betsey is said to have been born on 26 June 1770 to Capt. John Hollenbeck, but the Connecticut VR do not mention either of them. She died 22 Oct. 1857 in Jericho (VR). Governor Thomas Chittendon, a cousin of Betsey's, whom shortly after marriage she and Eleaser visited, reportedly advised the young groom to settle in Jericho, where he was its first physician (108). His practice extended to Montpelier, Burlington and other towns (108). The Vermont Historical Gazetteer (109) quoting his youngest daughter, states that her father came from Lebanon, N.H. to Jericho in 1791 or 1792.
