Deed 4-107. Canaan, Connecticut

Note: Hezekiah Andrus sells 4 parcels of land to John Hollenbeck.

To all people to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that we Hezekiah Andrus and Anne Andrus wife to the said Hezekiah of Canaan in Litchfield County and state of Connecticut for the consideration of two hundred and twenty pounds lawful money received to our full satisfaction of John Hollenbeck of the town and county afore said do give grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said John his heirs and assigns sundry tracts or parcels of land lying in said Canaan. The first piece is bounded as follows. Beginning at the crotch of the road by my dwelling house thence westerly in the north line of the highway that leads across the swamp road then northerly in Burrall's line ten rods then east in said Burrall's line 8 rods to the highway that leads from my dwelling house to the North Society in said Canaan then in the line of said highway ten rods to the first bounds with our dwelling house thereon standing.

The second piece of land lies on the east side of the last mentioned highway. Beginning the south west corner [?] the north west corner of Capt. Charles Burrall's land. Then northerly in the east line of said highway to Joseph Beckley's land. Thence easterly in the line of said Joseph's land to a white oak stump then southerly in the line of Joseph Hinsdel's land to a stake in said Charles Burrall's line then westerly in said Burrall's line to the first bounds.

The third piece lies in the edge of the swamp on the southside of the first mentioned highway. Beginning at a heap of stones in the south line of the highway then southerly in a line of said Burrall's land to a heap of stones in a line of lands belonging to the heirs of Jeremiah Andrus. Thence westerly in the line of said heirs lands to a stake in the line of said Beckley's land. Thence northerly in the line of said Beckley's land to said highway to a heap of stones then in the south line of the highway to the first bounds.

The fourth piece lies on the west side of the Great Mountain. Beginning at an oak stump then northerly 23 rods to a heap of stones then easterly 34 rods to a heap of stones. Then southerly 61 rods to a heap of stones in said Beckley's line. Then westerly 20 rods to a heap of stones in the line of said Hinsdal's land. Then northerly 38 rods to a heap of stones in said Hinsdal's line. Thence westerly 21.5 rods in said Hinsdal's line to the first bound.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof to him the said John his heir and assigns forever. To his and their own proper use and behoof also we the said Hezekiah and Anne do for ourselves and heirs, executors and administrators covenant with the said John his heirs and assigns that at and until the ensealing hereof we are well seized of the premises as a good and indefeasible estate in fee simple and have good right to bargain and sell the same that the same is free of all incumberances whatsoever furthermore we the said Hezekiah and Anne do bind ourselves and heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the said John Hollenbeck his heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of February AD 1784.
