Note: Abraham Hollenbeck sells four tracts of land to Charles Burrall Jr.
Know all men by these presents that I John Hollenbeck of Canaan Litchfield County and state of Connecticut for the consideration of five hundred and twenty pounds lawful money received to my full satisfaction of Charles Burrall Jr. of the town, county and state aforesaid do give, grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Charles Burrall Jr. his heirs and assigns sundry tracts or parcels of land lying in said Canaan. The first piece is bounded as follows.
Beginning at the crotch of the fence by my dwelling house. Thence westerly in the north line of the highway that leads [?] the swamp 8 rods. Thence northerly in Burrall's line 10 rods. Thence east in said Burrall's line 8 rods to the highway that leads from my dwelling house to the north Society in said Canaan. Thence in the line of said highway 10 rods to the first bounds. With my dwelling house thereon standing.
The second piece of land lies on the east side of the last mentioned highway. Beginning at the southwest corner and northwest corner of Charles Burrall's land. Thence northerly in the east line of said highway to Joseph Beckley's land. Thence easterly in the line of said Joseph's land to a white oak stump. Thence southerly in the line of Joseph Hinsdale's land to a stake in said Charles Burrall's line. Thence westerly in said Burrall's line to the first bounds.
The third piece lies in the [?] of the swamp on the south side of the first mentioned highway. Beginning at a heap of stone in the south line of the highway. Thence southerly in the line of said Burrall's land to a heap of stones in the line of lands belonging to the heirs of Jeremiah Andrus. Thence westerly in the line of said heirs lands to a stake in the line of said Beckley's lands. Thence northerly in the line of said Beckley's land to said highway to a heap of stones. Thence in the south line of the highway to the first bounds.
The fourth piece lies on the west side of the Great Mountain. Beginning at an oak stump. Thence northerly 23 rods to a heap of stones. Thence easterly 34 rods to a heap of stones. Thence westerly 20 rods to a heap of stones in the line of said Hinsdale's land. Thence northerly 38 rods to a heap of stones in said Hinsdale's line. Thence westerly 21.5 rods in said Hinsdale's line to the first bounds.
To have and to hold the above granted, bargained premises with the appurtenances thereto belonging to him the said Charles his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper use and behoof and I the said John do for myself my heirs, executors and administrators covenant with the said Charles Burrall Jr. his heirs and assigns that at and until the ensealing these presents I have good right to bargain and sell the said premises in manner and form as before related; and furthermore I the said John bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to the said Charles his heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of May 1788.
