Deed 5-377. Canaan, Connecticut

Note: George Rowland sells 44 acres to Samuel Hollenbeck and five others.

To all people to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I George Rowland of Canaan in Litchfield County and state of Connecticut for the consideration of one hundred and sixty pounds lawful money received to my full satisfaction of Jeremiah Hogeboom, Samuel Hollenbeck, Andrew Frank, Elizar Wright, Ammi R. Robbins and Samuel Robbins of Canaan aforesaid in said county and state. Do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Jeremiah, Samuel, Andrew, Elizur, Ammi and Samuel Robbins their heirs and assigns forever. A certain farm or lot of land lying in said Canaan in the first society of said town on the west side of the Six Rod Road and bounded east on said road north on John Pecks west partly on Ousatonack River and partly on land belonging to the Falls gristmill (so called) and south on John Ensign's land and being about forty four acres (be it more or less) with a sawmill small house and barn [?] thereon. Likewise six acres of land on the east side of the aforesaid road opposite the first piece being the whole of the land I bought of Nathan Hale Esquire whose deed to me is dated the first day of March AD 1794 Let the same contain more or less.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenaces thereof unto them the said Jeremiah, Samuel, Andrew, Elizur, Ammi and Samuel Robbins their heirs and assigns forever to their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said George do for myself my heirs, executors and administrators covenant with the said Jeremiah, Samuel, Andrew, Elizur, Ammi and Samuel Robbins their heirs and assigns, that at and until the ensealing these presents, I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasable estate in fee simple; and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever. And furthermore I the said George do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to the the said Jeremiah, Samuel, Andrew, Elizur, Ammi and Samuel Robbins their heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever. In witness whereof, I have here set my hand and seal the 13th day of May Anno Domini 1797
