Note: Samuel Hollenbeck sells twelve acres to Adoniram Carter.
To all people to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye, that I Samuel Hollenbeck of Canaan in Litchfield County and state of Connecticut for the consideration of one hundred twenty three dollars received to my full satisfaction of Adoniram Carter of said Canaan. Do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Adoniram Carter a certain piece of land lying in said Canaan near the said Carter's dwelling house bounded west on the highway north on the said Carter's land; and east and south on my own land, beginning at a heap of stones; thence N 86 degrees 30 feet E 7 chanins 50 links to a heap of stones north and near a white oak tree; thence S 2 degrees 30 feet W 16 chains 45 links to a heap of stones; thence S 86 degrees 30 feet W 6 chains 62 links to a heap of stones; thence in the line of the highway 16 chains 69 links to the place of beginning. Containing twelve acres be the same more or less.
To have and to hold the above granted premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Adoniram Carter his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I the said Samuel Hollenbeck do for myself and heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Adoniram Carter, his heirs and assigns, that at and until the ensealing these presents, I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee-simple; and have good right to bargain and sell the same, in manner and form as is above written; and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever. And furthermore, I the said Samuel Hollenbeck do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever, to warrant and defend the above bargained premises to him the said Adoniram Carter his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.
