Deed Proprietors 7-82. Canaan, Connecticut

Note: Samuel Hollenbeck sells two tracts of land to the State of Connecticut.

To all people to whom these presents that come greeting. Know ye I Samuel Hollenbeck of Canaan in the county of Litchfield and state of Connecticut for the consideration of five hundred and twenty four dollars received to my full satisfaction of the state of Connecticut. Do give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said State of Connecticut the following tracts of land lying in said Canaan described and bounded as follows: the first piece lying on the east side of the highway in the Swamp (so called) bounded north on lands belonging to Charles Belsen Jr. and Naomi Kellogg; east on lands belonging to M Burrall and Samuel J. Mills Jr. south on lands belonging to Samuel J. Mills Jr. and Adoniram Carter and Betsy Frank; west on land belonging to Margaret Dean and on the highway containing twenty acres.

The second piece on the west side of the highway on the hill bounded as follows: north on lands William Cady and Adoniram Carter; west on land belonging to Adoniram Carter and on the highway; south partly on my own land and partly on land belonging to the heirs of Rev Daniel Farrand; and east on the highway. Containing thirty acres of land.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof unto the said State of Connecticut forever to their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said Samuel Hollenbeck do for myself my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said State of Connecticut that at and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good and indefeasible estate in fee simple and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever, and furthermore I the said Samuel Hollenbeck do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to the said State of Connecticut against all claims and demands whatsoever

Provided never the less and it is hereby agreed by and between the contracting parties that if the said Samuel Hollenbeck his heirs and executors and administrators shall without fraud or delay pay and satisfy the interest and principle of one certain bond obligatory executed by him the said Samuel Hollenbeck to the said State of Connecticut for the sum of five hundred and twenty four dollars of even date herewith according to the terms thereof, then this deed shall be void and of none effect, otherwise to be and remain in full force power and virtue
