Sudden Death at Annville Of Mrs. Joseph Kreider

Faithful Member of U. B. Church and Devoted Wife and Mother. Wife of Judge C. V. Henry is Daughter of Deceased

Death claimed, almost without warning, Mrs. Annie C. Buller Kreider wife of Joseph H. Kreider, one of Annville's leading citizens, at two o'clock this morning. But a short time before that hour Mrs. Kreider had awakened her daughter, Mrs. Charles Coover, explaining that she had suffered some discomfort for a time and was unable to sleep. Dr. A. L. Hauer was at once summoned but although he employed every method known to medical science to save the life of the sufferer the heart failed to respond to treatment and death quickly intervened. Mrs. Kreider had suffered a severe attack of illness last winter and although she recovered she and the members of her family realized the fact that her heart had weakened under the attack. Nevertheless she was about as, was her daily custom on Friday and had enjoyed a time spent in the evening on the porch of the Kreider home, at College and Sheridan avenue, and at the time of retirement for the hight[sic] had no intimation of the attack which was to prove fatal.

Devoted U. B. Member

Her death in addition to being a crushing blow to the members of her family is also keenly felt by a wide circle of neighbors and friends. For a long period of years continuing practically to the end of the life Mrs. Kreider was actively and prominently identified with the undertakings of the United Brethren church of which she was a devout member. Her activities were by no means confined to her home town but she was known and loved throughout the East Pennsylvnaia conference because of her self sacrificing efforts in promoting the cause of its missions.

As Miss Annie C. Buller, of Philadelphia, she came here more than a half century ago, accompanying her brother-in-law and sister, who established there residence near Bellegrove in the hope of benefitting his health. Shortly thereafter she became the wife of Mr. Kreider and spent the remainder of her life in Annville enjoying the love esteem of the community in the promotion of the welfare of which she was so deeply concerned.
