Mrs. Susie L. Kreider, aged sixty-two, one of Palmyra's most highly esteemed residents, died Sunday morning at 8:45 o'clock at her home, 117 North Chestnut street. Death was attributed to complications. Although she had been bedfast the past two weeks and in ill health for several years, the report of her death yesterday shocked the community.
Mrs. Kreider was the widow of William H. Kreider son of the late W. L. Kreider, founder of the W. L. Kreider shoe factory of Palmyra and one of Palmyra's pioneers. Her husband died eleven years ago.
Mrs. Kreider was born November 10, 1871 in Derry Township, the daughter of the late John K. and Elizabeth Keim Landis. She was a resident of Palmyra for fifty-two years.
She was a faithful member of the First United Brethren church, of Palmyra, the Sunshine Bible class, Women's Missionary association and Ladies' Aid society of the church, and was affiliated with Recreation Circle, of Palmyra. She had interests in the Palmyra Radio Shop with her son, J. Landis Kreider.
The survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth, at home and Mrs. George Swanger, of Buffalo Springs; a son, J. Landis, of Palmyra; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hilda Erb Kreider; a brother, John M. Landis of Palmyra and the following four grandchildren, George Swanger, Jr., John William, Henry K. and Robert Swanger, of Buffalo Springs.
