Set out in search of Jeff's Swamp which is supposed to be one of the wildest, most remote places in central Pennsylvania. The swamp is formed where the West Branch of Fishing Creek and DeHaas Run merge forming Fishing Creek. I parked at the Game Lands 229 parking area. Walked about 3 miles until I got to the West Branch of Fishing Creek. I followed the creek south a short distance until it was obvious that I was in the swamp. Total distance walked 7.13 miles.

For the future: Follow the creek north; go farther south on the swamp when it is frozen; there is a trail that heads south about a half mile from the parking area - where does it go?; Reach the summit of Panther Head.
